To much exposure to a sunlight during the summer days can cause huge damages to your skin. Some of them are short-term, but some can lead to future problems like skin cancer. There are two types of damaging sunlight – UVB and UVA rays. UBA penetrate deeper into the skin damaging the middle layer and UVB goes into the top layer of the skin causing skin burning. When it comes to protection from the sun, there are few important steps you should take. First try to avoid the sun as much as possible, especially when the sun is strong. Try to sty indoors or in the shade as possible in the summer months. Canopies, umbrellas and trees can also provide a good shade. But, what is summer without going on the beach, right? Going on the beach with your friends can be really fun, but also dangerous for your skin if you don’t arm yourself with great sun protection. There are more things you can do, but still there are two main. Your first line of defense against the sun rays should be beach wear clothes. The second one – never leave your home without sunscreen, no matter you are going on the beach or just to walk.
Although going on the beach means you will expose your skin to the sun, you can still protect yourself with few modern pieces of beach wear clothes.
- Wear wide-brimmed hat. It will provide your face, neck and ears with great sun protection. It is very important to protect these areas of your body as they seems to be the most commonly affected by sun damage.
- Wear long T-shirt, beach kaftan or long pants. Make sure your beach wear clothes is light colour and cotton made. When it comes to colours, prints and patterns the range is endless. Buy your favorite pieces and enjoy your day on the beach while also protecting your body from the sun.
- Wear a sunglasses. Sunglasses are stylish, but provide great eye protection as well. They will protect your easy and the sensitive area around them from the harmful effects of the sun. Also, make sure they are labelled as providing protection against UV light.
Use high-factor sunscreen
Never forget to apply sunscreen. It is another way to protect your skin from the sun. Use at least SPF 15 and apply it regularly after every one hour. The higher the sun protection factor, the greater the protection. Also, it’s important that your sunscreen has a high level of UVA protection and never forget to apply it on areas like ears, scalp, around the eyes, neck etc. Do not consider the sunscreen as an option to avoid the sun or covering up. Sunscreen should be used as an addition to give yourself a greater protection.
